Last updated September 12, 2026
This policy explains what information this website collects, why it is collected, how it is used and protected, and the choices you have. It applies to businesscoachshawn.com and to advisory, marketing and software engagements arranged through it.
Who we are
This website is operated by Shawn Duncan, doing business as Shawn Duncan Business Advisory (“we,” “us,” “our”), based in Austin, Texas, United States. For any privacy question or request, contact support@businesscoachshawn.com.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to respond to you and run the business.
- Information you give us. Name, phone number, business name, and the goals or problems you describe when you request a Growth Assessment, reply to an email, call us, or complete a client intake form.
- Client engagement information. For active clients, operational and financial details you choose to share — revenue, margins, labor costs, marketing spend, staffing and similar figures — along with notes, scores, findings and plans we create during the engagement.
- Automatically collected information. IP address, browser and device type, referring page, pages viewed and general location, collected through Google Analytics and standard server logs.
- Calculator inputs. Numbers you type into the free calculators are processed in your browser to display results. We do not store them unless you submit them to us in a form.
We do not knowingly collect Social Security numbers, full bank or card numbers, health information, or information from anyone under 18. Please do not send them through this website.
How we use information
- To respond to your request and schedule or conduct a Growth Assessment.
- To deliver, document and improve advisory, marketing and software services.
- To send service-related messages, scheduling confirmations and follow-ups.
- To understand how the site is used so we can improve its content and speed.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, and to enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Communications consent
By submitting your phone number you agree that we may contact you by phone, voicemail, text message or email about your request. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of texts by replying STOP, or of emails by replying and asking to be removed. We may still send messages necessary to an active engagement.
Service providers we use
We rely on a small number of vendors who process information on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments:
- Website hosting and application infrastructure.
- Database, authentication and file storage for client records.
- Transactional email delivery for notifications sent from the site.
- Google Analytics and Google Search Console for traffic and search reporting.
- Scheduling, payment, accounting and document tools used to run engagements.
We may also disclose information when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect our rights, safety or property, and in connection with a sale or reorganization of the business.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality and for Google Analytics measurement. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the site work. We honor Global Privacy Control signals where technically feasible.
Confidentiality of client information
Information shared during an engagement is treated as confidential. We do not disclose client financials, strategies or identifying details to third parties without permission, except to the service providers above or as required by law. Any examples we publish are anonymized unless the client approves otherwise in writing.
Data retention and security
We keep inquiry information for up to three years and client engagement records for up to seven years, to meet legal and accounting requirements, then delete or anonymize it. We use encrypted connections, access controls and authenticated administrative access. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted over the internet.
Your choices and rights
You may ask us to access, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to stop contacting you. Texas, California, Colorado, Virginia and other state residents may have additional rights, including to confirm processing, to obtain a copy, to correct or delete, and to appeal a decision. Email support@businesscoachshawn.com and we will respond within 45 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we may retain information we are legally required to keep.
